A look Towards Spring!!

Well, it's Winter and cold and I didn't feel like posting about THAT.  So why not take a look ahead to Spring!!

And what better way than to look back at the Penny's 1975 Spring / Summer Big Book Catalog!!

Yep, Colleen, Kay, and Karen will chase the winter blues away!!

Bell bottoms with those groovy hats - now that's a killer combination!!

More groovy bell bottoms!

Not sure about the "country looks" here, but still better than the Winter cold.

When Life Was Groovy: Pants!!

Time for some groovy pants from the 70s!!

Starting off with a bit of a Western them with Wrangler jeans.  So if a cowboy is also called a 'poke, the is a cowgirl also called a 'pokette??  Oh never mind.....

Not so Western, more casual from Aldens.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about these pants that Kathy is sporting.  I can't recall ever seeing these in real life!!

Well back to a bit if a Country theme........I guess???

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. No way you can call that "country looks" and no way you'd wear that in "the big outdoors."

Wendy and Karen in some nice Springtime 70s pants.  Although it looks like they are on some kind of farm, at least they are not claiming that the look is "country." (And what's up with the fish them on Karen's shirt??)

These were "hard to find" and for good reason....

And finally we'll end on an elegant note.  At least what passed for elegance in the JCPenny catalogs from the mid 70s - long, floppy bell bottoms in bright prints.  Somehow I just don't remember seeing anything like this in the discos back then!!!

When Life Was Groovy: Kathy and Karen

Kathy and Karen: Long or Short?

Long or short, that is the question????

And Kathy and Karen give us teh answer.  First the short...

And then the long......
I have to admit, you can't go wrong either way!!!

Fall Sweater Capes!!

Here's a little known (and long forgotten) fashion mini rend from the mid 70s - groovy sweater capes for those chilly Autumn mornings!!

Yeah I don't remember anyone wearing these things either, but maybe I didn't notice them at the time.

They do look warm and easy to shed if one gets too warm.  But let's face it, these are not exactly "figure flattering."  I mean even these model are having a hard time with them.

And, of course, they almost always had Kay wear to the oddest clothes.  I guess she was their go to model to move the goods!!

Sweater capes - can't say I recall them, can't say I miss them!!

K Club Special: Kathy!!!

Yep, It's that time again - time for a K Club Special on Kathy herself....

And what would be more emblematic of her career??? Well how about a pic from the Junior Bazaar section of Sears along with two more of the more popular catalog models of that era: Kay and Colleen! (And yep, there's that one hand holding the other pose again!

Hands in pockets this time for Adens!

However, in teh inset pic, we are back to that pose again!!

This time Jill has the hands n pockets look, while Kathy, well, she's looking fantastic here!!

Casual dresses from Penneys along with Karen and an unknown model.

Back to Sears!!

Once more Junior Bazaar.  This time with a tunic top!!

And now for a special treat.  These pics were published by Dede Pittman on the Facebook page "Popular Fashion Models of the 60s and 70s."

Kathy, Colleen, and Karen were featured in this pictoral.

What else can I say, this is Awesome!!

Excellent tank tops.  I sure wish I could locate this "Regal" catalog.  Never heard of it before!!

When Life Was Groovy: JCP 1978!!!

Ahhh, 1978.  I remember it fondly.  And boy, I'd sure like to go back to those days and forget this year!!!

A really nice pic of three of the stalwarts of catalog modeling in the 70s: Kay, Kathy, and Karen.

Looks like we have several inset pics of Kathy on this one.  Let's check them out.....

First inset pic.....
Wow, an inset inside an inset!!

You know I just noticed something.  In almost every one of these pics, Kathy is holding finger(s) of her left hand in her right hand.  What's up with that????

Repost here I know, but it proves my point!!

Aaaaaaand again.  Hmm, this is something I need to explore further in future posts.  Anyway, you just gotta love these dresses.  I haven't seen anyone where anything like that in a LONG time.

Well, at least not a female,. Let's not go there.  Oh boy, how I REALLY miss those days.

Sew Your Own Look with Kathy and Friends!!

Sewing your own clothes never looked like more groovy fun!!

Kathy along with Shelley!!

Hmm, Karen seems to have a bit if an attitude here!!

Not sure that sewing your own coat is such a good idea.  The little girl looks worried!!

But not Kathy!! She is all smiles as usual!!

Let's Get Back in the Game with a Karen Bruun Special!

I know that my dear readers have waited patiently for my return to blogging.  Yeah, it's been a difficult stretch, but I feed that now I can devote the time and energy to blogging again.  To be honest, I was hit by so many family and business matters at once, I needed a break.

But now we're back baby!  And what better way than another look at one of the Catalog Queens: Karen Bruun...

As we've covered before, Karen won teh title of Miss Staten Island back in 1969.  I have ot say that's one fancy setup they had there!!

And one impressive trophy also!!  She looks to be drowning in all the ribbons!!

And here afterwards with family and friend.  We can finally get a look at her now that all those ribbons have been removed!

But, of course, we know Karen best as one of the Catalog Queens of the 70s.....

Here in Aldens!!

Karen looking cute as a button!  And hey she is with Kathy and Kay!  So we have three of teh four K Club members in one pic, how cool is that!!

Karen in a groovy knit cap along with Kathy and Colleen from Sears.  SO, once again, three of the four K Clubbers! (Pic courtesy of Blue Senshi.)

Speaking of knits, Karen in Spiegel with some coordinate knot action!!

And finally to round out our tour of teh major catalogs, Karen in a wild outfit from Wards.  This has a bit of everything: halter top, wild flowery skirt and teh metal arm band.  Talk about "The Look." But Karen pulled it off!!

But wait, there's one more catalog to check out........

Karen with Kay from Jewel tea!!!

And the cover!!  All I can say is 'That's So 70s!" (Check out the credit cards: BankAmericard and Master Charge!)

Once again, I precipitant the patient of my loyal readers.  I really needed that break, but be sure to check back often and tell your friends that if they think that that the 70s were the awesomness decade, then check out this bog!
