Random Goodness: 70s Fall Fashion Fun - Part 2

Okay, okay, things last week got just a little out of control.  But that's what tends to happen when men behave badly - sooner or later stuff gets blown up!  This week we're going to reel it back and focus more on our bread and butter subjects: Kathy and the gang showing us some fabulous fall fashions from the 70s!

This is a good way to start us off.  Kathy, Kay, and Colleen in fabulous Fall pinwale corduroy - whatever that is.  No gophers, no leering guys, nothing exploding, just a nice sedate pic.

Nobody is Perfect?  Well you wouldn't wear that unless you already thought that you were darn near!  And, who can argue with these lovely gals on that point?

Yeah I know I've been a little light on the Kathy pics last week.  So this week we'll correct that oversight, and how else to that with suede, no check that, with SuperSuede!  Suede was one of those things that was popular back in the 70s.  Nobody really knew what it actually was, but hey.

Yeah, Jeans 'n Things with Lattice-Look Trim!  One thing that is great about Fall fashions is the variety of things you can wear.  Jeans are just a natural All-American Fall outfit!

Fall is just the time for a new coat to beat those winter chills!  You have to love Kay's hat.  If you're the PETA type, you may not want to read the fine print on these items.

One of the great things about Fall is that the dresses can come in all different lengths!  In any length dress, Kathy looks smashing!

I told you that I'd go heavy on the Kathy pics this week!  Once again, in long or short dress, Kathy looks absolutely fabulous in 70s Fall fashions!

  1. Nice photos. Can you please post that great bodysuit shot of Kay and Kathy on page 179 of the spring and summer 73 catalog.

    1. Well I can hardly turn down a request, and we will be due for another bodysuit post soon (probably right after Christmas). Stayed tuned!

    2. How on earth do you know what page a certain picture is on? Must be a good one, I'll be waiting and watching...

    3. Good question! I assume that Anonymous 12:15 meant the 1973 Sears Spring / Summer catalog. There is a bodysuit pic on that page but it is Kathy and Mick Lindberg, not Kathy and Kay. It is, however, pretty good (although black and white, arrrggghhh!).

    4. It's a little known fact that from the mid-Sixties to the early Seventies, Sears put out two versions of their catalogs. One was smaller (about 1000 pages) and was cheaply made, with many black and white photos, and printed almost entirely on dull, matte paper. The other "deluxe" version was bigger (about 1500 pages) and had many more glossy, full-color pages. So there are two Sears Spring and Summer catalogs. The black and white photo on page 179 is in the small version. In the big version, page 179 has a color pic of Kathy modeling a black bra and panty set (which Sears refers to as a bra and bikini). In that catlog the bodysuit shot is on page 217, and is in color. (Kathy's suit is yellow and Mick's is green.) I think 1973 is the last year Sears did this.

    5. I always wondered about that! It seemed to me that there were different versions of the Sears catalogs from that era. Thanks for the info!

    6. Where do you find these old catalogs? Is there a certain library or Are you just are a collector?

    7. Yes, I am a collector, not only of old catalogs, but magazines, etc. Some of these are fairly available and can be found on the internet, others are harder to get. One of the things that has been great about running this blog is that I have been able to engineer some trades.

    8. I've also collected old catalogs and magazines, but not in recent years. I think I started about 10 years ago. Since then the mailing rate for a catalog has doubled! Ebay is pretty much the only place to go to for things like that. I've found that Sears catalogs are the easiest to acquire, as there are apparently quite a few of them out there.

  3. I have another actress alert for you. In pic #6 (second from the bottom), that's model Pam Dawber of "Mork and Mindy" fame.

    1. Yes, you are right! Thanks! She did some catalog modeling during that time. It seems like she appeared here and there, but not as consistent as some of the other models. Nanoo, nanoo!!

  4. Sooo again, I will admit to owning one of these outfits. The green maxi dress.. yep.. wore it for Christmas one year, to church. I think that was the only time I had it on, but I really liked it. As Bob Hope used to say "Thanks for the memories"

    1. It seems to me that you grew up in a JCPenney household! The green maxi dress does look nice - sort of Christmasy!
