Once again we'll check out the maternity shop fashions of the 70s, and make sure that all the models had a ring!!
Yep Kathy and one other model have a ring on the left hand, but the others???
Once again Aldens makes sure that all these ladies are legit, even though they are just MODELING maternity wear, not actually pregnant (as far as we know!)
I like the behind the back pose by Kay. It kinda looks like a last second move to hide that left hand.
Looks like everyone here is okay, that or the photographer deftly made sure that the left hand was out of frame.
JCP did the same thing. Here Kay has a ring while Karen's left hand is strategically placed to hide any ring, or lack thereof.
Okay, okay, here we have the old "hand in the pocket" move by Kathy. Nice, very nice. Hmm, something doesn't look quite right with the inset pic......
I'm not sure what is going on with Kathy's left arm and Kay's right arm. At first I thought this was a result of some flaw when I copied it. However, I don't think so based on the rest of the pic. Selective editing?!?! or maybe it just didn't come out right so they relegated it to an inset pic.

Odd Places: The Shoe Section!!
As one of teh Top Models of 70s, Kathy could be found just about everywhere. Her pic would pop up in the most random places - like the shoe section of the Big Book Catalog!!
Pretty ordinary looking ladies shoes, but Kathy made them sparkle (1)
Even in a wig , Kathy added pizzazz to the ho hum shoes of Sears. But I'm a little confused, here. After all you can't actually SEE her wear the shoes!! Probably pushing the handbag instead (1).
Even in black and white, Kathy made flats look great!!
And finally, I admit, a re-post, but that's okay. I had to add it anyway!!!
Hmm, one thing that I noticed is that all of these pics are from Sears catalogs. See must have been their "go to" shoe model back in the 70s!! I can hardly wait to see what other Odd Places Kathy's extensive modeling career will take us!!

Random Weirdness: The Look Down!
Apparently one of the standard "go to" poses in modeling was "The Look Down."
Here three of the four models are executing "The Look Down" move in unison. And with The Look Down, normally there has to be a reason, right??? Kathy is holding her necklace, the model in the middle has her hand on her chin, and Shelley is holding some kind of ball?!?!
Kathy again with a classic Look Down pose. Often "The Look Down" was combined with "The Lean In" and "The Head Tilt." All three of which are incorporated by the models here.
Kathy, Joan, and another model in another variant of "The Look Down." Often the models would appear to looking at the same spot on the floor. Not sure what they are looking at here.
Kathy wasn't the only one of our favorite models to perfect "The Look Down." Here Karen and another model show us how it's done.
Kathy and Shelley in another "Look Down, Lean In, and Head Tilt" combo. Apparently the other model just went with "The Head Tilt" by itself.
Dottie, Karen, and Colleen relax by the beach with some Look Down poses.
And finally, the all time classic Look Down pic. And yes, it's a re-post but I just had to add it.....
That's a committed Look Down pose by Kay and Kathy!! Perhaps this should be called "The Head Snap" pose instead!! (pic courtesy of Blue Senshi, thanks!)
So What about those other, related poses like "The Look Up" or The Look Away" or perhaps "The Flamingo??" Well stay tuned to this site dear readers and I bet that we'll explore those as well in the future!!

Random Goodness: Spiegel!!
The cry went out....More Kathy...More Barbara. And finally the pleading of the people reached the highest levels of the Great World Wide Corporation of Catalog Blogging.
And the answer??? "let's give them more Kathy and Barbara!!"
Just a classy pic from the 70s Big Book catalogs - fun, innocence, and energy all rolled into one!!
And here you have the bonus of the cool dude trying to impress Kathy with his AWESOME yellow boom box!!
Nice pic, may be a re-post, but hey why not?!?!??
One final pic of Kathy, Karen, and the gang!!

The Swimsuits of Summer!
It seems like it's taking forever for summer to finally get here this year, but it will. And what goes with summer, why those groovy swimsuits of the 70s!!
So in honor of 70s swimsuits, let's take a look back to that wonderful year of 1971!! Nice Hat!!
Bikini beauties do indeed brighten up any beach!!
Is that a target on the swimsuit of the girl on the right?? I better not go there, let's move on shall we...
Nice swimsuits, but I'm not feeling that funky 70s vibe here...
That's better. This is kind of a ripoff of the Sears mix and match swimsuit ads...
Ho hum, I'm kinda disappointed in Penneys here. I was expected more, well, more 70s!!
Now that's the spirit!! Groovy styles to light up the beaches!! Now I'm ready for summer for sure!!
Yep that's what I'm talking about!! Groovy hat, funky 70s swimwuit. She looks like a mermaid that just washed up on shore!! Bring on the hot weather!!

Random Goodness: Young & Lively!!
Everyone is familiar with the Junior Bazaar section of the Sears Big Book catalogs, but they also had another section called Young & Lively. I'm not sure what the difference was, but it was pretty cool too.....
Gabardine Greats indeed!!
Nice hat!!
More hats!! That must have been a thing back then. Somehow I don't remember those kind of hats being a thing.
Some very nice dresses to end on. The Young & Lively section was certainly a winner!!
