K Club Special: Part 27 - Karen Bruun: Part 4

Yep, it's time for another K Club Special look back on the wonderful modeling career of one of the most popular and iconic models of the 70s - Karen Bruun.

And the gang's all here!!  One the very few and rare photos of all four K Club members together: Karen, Kay Campbell, Kathy (of course), and Colleen Corby.  Not only that, it ONLY has those four.
Let's take a short break from this special on Karen for a closeup of the other three....
Super cute and........wait a minute!!  How is Kathy holding that sweater?? Very odd, very odd indeed. It's as if someone handed it to her right before the camera snapped.

Back to Karen......
Looks like she's got a new friend.  Wait, check that, it's just a statue, not a real dog.

When you talk about Karen's career, it's easy to overuse the word "cute", but I can't help it.  Check out the little boy and girl on her pants legs.  The little boy is on his knees begging the little girl for something.  Wonder what that is about?? (1)

So those were some great catalog pics of Karen, but what about some of the other aspects of her career?
Nice modeling shot!!

An interview with Karen!  Basically she says that she's glad she went into modeling because it's fun and she makes lots of money.  Somehow that is refreshingly honest.

And it certainly looks like Karen is having fun here of the cover of this Bellas Hess catalog (2)

And Bellas Hess had some groove-tastic 70s fashions of their own, like here....

And here!!  Nice ruffles on Cay Sanderson and Karen.

Still it amazes me how top models back in the 70s would pop up in the most unlikely places, like Karen here modeling this cape, er, tent, er, whatever it is.

Now for some pics of Karen in some sewing rags......
 Where did her smile go?!?

 Still no smile.....

There it is!!  Karen (like the other K Clubbers) had that million dollar smile that could make any 70s fashion look like groovy fun!!

And yes, we're going to end on another uber-cute pic of Karen.  And I promise that will be the last time I use the word "cute" (at least until next week!)

(1) That was certainly a more innocent time.  Wasn't it.

(2) I haven't had any luck with the Bellas Hess catalogs as far as Kathy go. However, they have some great pics of some of the other 70s models.

Random Goodness: Shirts, Skirts, and Assorted Miscellany - Part 4!

Summer is the time for dressing down.  And nothing was better in the 70s than shirts, skirts, and assorted miscellany!!

And why not start out with a series of small pics form Spiegel!
Kathy in a peach skirt and a mod 70s, psychedelic shirt.  Groovy baby!!

Shelley continues the trend wit ha more conservative approach.  You gotta love those knee high stockings!!
Donna in what they say is a naval insignia, but I'm not sure about that!

Finally Kathy doing what she did best - looking cute!!

Okay that was certainly fun, but let's get back to the regular size catalog pics....
Kay, Colleen and gulp Mick Lindberg in a halter.  Oh boy, don't EVEN get me started on those!! (1)

Too late......
Tank tops and halters were all the same to me.  They made the summer heat hotter!!

Kay and Colleen are back in tank tops this time! (1)

Okay this is getting ridiculous.  Kathy smolders in a yellow tank top sorta-kinda shirt.  I guess this falls into the "assorted miscellany" category.

Wow! A whole lot of random goodness 70s style going on here. (2)

You know the old saying "She could wear a sack and still look good."  Well that was put to the test here with Kathy sporting a "shirt-jac."  And yep, she still looks great!!

Here we got a little of everything  shirts, skirts and....halters.  Yep there're back in the mix! (2)

Which leads us to.....
Why not finish this post with a final small pic of Kathy and Karen in halters.  Seems to me to be a good way to "tie" this one up.  And no, I don't get the "Many Petite and Tall Jrs." title.  They appear to be about the same height to me!!

That's So 70s: Deminy Daze - Part 4

Denim.  Nothing says timeless American fashion like denim!!  And it was no different in the 70s Big Book catalogs!!

Tee shirts with denim - a classic American combination.   Even Spiegel couldn't resist the denims.  Of course they had to add that special 70s "twist" consisting of a rope belt and scarf as shown here by Barbara, Kathy and Donna.

Karen and Kay get in on the denim action from JCPenney.  Except Kay isn't so denimy as she is "smocky" or something.
Denim came in all shapes and styles like here with a hoodie vest worn by Kathy.

That deserves a closeup.....
Kathy isn't an 8!  If anyone rated a 10, it was her.  Oh wait, I guess that is not what the number here means...

Liek I said, denim came in all shapes and gulp sorta Daisy Dukes and tube top by Jane.  All I can say is "That's so 70s and that's sooo hot!!"

The "Look Back".  A classic pose by a classy lady combined for one of the all great pics from the Sears Big Books of the 70s!!  And in "brushed denim" no less!!  I'm definitely in a "deminy daze" now!!

So denim can worn in any style??
Uggg, not with leisure suits!!!  I think we just hit the limit of denim's versatility!1
