Great Christmas Idea: Bodysuits!!

Actually it's a Big Idea from Aldens......

So what's the connection to Christmas you ask?? Why these bodysuits are sweater knits! What a Big Idea that is!!

And let's face it, bodysuits are just as a great idea today as in the 70s!!

The Little Book Catalogs: Lana Lobell 73

Yes The Big Book catalogs of the 70s were groovy, but let's not forget about The Little Book Catalogs also, like Lana Lobell!!!

And we start off with a cape with extra wide lapels on the cover no less.  This is going to some groovy 70s fashion fun!!

"Go Baby!"  I couldn't have said it any better than that! Even in The Little Book Catalogs Kathy and Karen were quite the pair! I really like the pink bell bottoms and the ole timey bicycle!!

Hmm, so apparently Lana Lobell was a real person??

Even Shelly Hack made an appearance in this groovy mag!!

Bell bottoms with cuffs!  That's soooo 70s!!  And the white gloves must be a throw back to the 50s!!

From pink bell bottoms to peach and polka dot ones, Lana Lobell had your disco needs covered!!

Palazzos and body suits, what a combo!!!

Kathy looking good!!

Dresses..Pants..Jumpshorts, oh my!! Everything you need for Spring! What a way to close out this post!!

Now Back to the Catalogs!!

Okay the previous post was a fun diversion.  Now back to the groovy catalogs of the 70s!!

Some nice Spring fashions from Penneys!!

And some more!!!  I'm not sure where these pics were taken, but there is definitely a garden theme going on here!!

Let's just stay with the Spring Penneys theme for this post!!

Groovy sports jackets!!

And finally on the garden path.   Perhaps it's the yellow brick road to 70s fashion fun!!

Hogzilla!!!

Okay, okay, I know that not everyone that reads this blog is into outdoor stuff and this is HUGE departure from the groove-tastic fashions of the Big Book Catalogs of the 70s, BUUUUT....

This is my blog an I can post anything I want.  And I got drawn for a TPWD private land hunt, which is like winning the lottery (literally, like 50000 to 1.)  And on that hunt I bagged El Muy Grande, or to say HOGZILLA!!!

Estimated weight was 300 to 350 lbs.  For you non hunters please remember that this is an invasive species which destroys native habitat and competes with native game.  The land owner put me on this monster because he desperately wanted it gone (it was chasing off deer.)   And I bagged it early Wednesday morn.  Oh yeah I got a deer and several other hogs on the hunt, which was fantastic, but this was the trophy!!

Location, for those who are interested, was between Medina and Vanderpool Texas, deep in the heart of the Texas hill country.

Yep, I brought home the bacon with that one!!

Winter Wear from Wards!!

The go to place for all your winter wear needs!!

Hmmm, most of these are not real fur, most that it is.  But all of them look toasty warm, even in black and white.

Sticking with the black and white theme, here are scarfs and shawls!!!

Finally some color!! And these short coats look VERY warm!! (Pic is courtesy of Blue Senshi, thanks!)

VERY warm!!

More short coats!!

We started with head wear and we'll end that way.  BTW it's real fur, don't judge.  It was the 70s!!

When Life Was Groovy: Pants!!

Time for some groovy pants from the 70s!!

Starting off with a bit of a Western them with Wrangler jeans.  So if a cowboy is also called a 'poke, the is a cowgirl also called a 'pokette??  Oh never mind.....

Not so Western, more casual from Aldens.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about these pants that Kathy is sporting.  I can't recall ever seeing these in real life!!

Well back to a bit if a Country theme........I guess???

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. No way you can call that "country looks" and no way you'd wear that in "the big outdoors."

Wendy and Karen in some nice Springtime 70s pants.  Although it looks like they are on some kind of farm, at least they are not claiming that the look is "country." (And what's up with the fish them on Karen's shirt??)

These were "hard to find" and for good reason....

And finally we'll end on an elegant note.  At least what passed for elegance in the JCPenny catalogs from the mid 70s - long, floppy bell bottoms in bright prints.  Somehow I just don't remember seeing anything like this in the discos back then!!!

When Life Was Groovy: Kathy and Karen

No tricks here for Halloween, only treats...

Not sure what the deal is with the bird theme, but it's certainly a nice treat!!!

Kathy and Karen: Long or Short?

Long or short, that is the question????

And Kathy and Karen give us teh answer.  First the short...

And then the long......
I have to admit, you can't go wrong either way!!!

Fall Sweater Capes!!

Here's a little known (and long forgotten) fashion mini rend from the mid 70s - groovy sweater capes for those chilly Autumn mornings!!

Yeah I don't remember anyone wearing these things either, but maybe I didn't notice them at the time.

They do look warm and easy to shed if one gets too warm.  But let's face it, these are not exactly "figure flattering."  I mean even these model are having a hard time with them.

And, of course, they almost always had Kay wear to the oddest clothes.  I guess she was their go to model to move the goods!!

Sweater capes - can't say I recall them, can't say I miss them!!
